The Sovereigns

The Sovereign Islands are an uninhabited rocky outcrop located approximately 8km off the south coast of Ireland. Anne Ffrench and Brian Harte built a twenty-two metre rope bridge that temporarily linked the gap between the islands for one day on the 29th of November 2012. The work comprises of a series of archival photo prints on aluminum and acrylic, a cyclical 30 mins DVD and a 15min HD Film which depicts this brief folly and the strenuous efforts of a team of skilled locals.

This work was kindly funded under The Arts Council of Ireland New Project Award 2012, with further funding from Cork County Council Artist Bursary Award 2012.
